Mindfulness has been practiced for over 2500 years and has its roots in Buddhist spiritual teachings of the East, although recently it has also found a great popularity in the West as a common practice for well – being.
Thich Nhat Hanh describes mindfulness as ‘the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment’. Traditional practices include formal meditation as well as disciplines such as yoga, tai chi or chi kung. However, you don’t actually need to take up any of these activities to bring mindfulness into your life, as mindfulness practices also include simple breathing exercises, daily tasks, saying mantras or focusing on an object, such as crystal. Focusing on the present moment deepens our perceptions and switches off the tendency to worry too much about the past or the future.
The fast – paced lifestyle of the 21st century is full of stress, and long – term stress can negatively affect every major system in the body, leading to a wide range of symptoms such as headaches, mood swings, insomnia, low libido, heartburn, raised blood pressure, reduced immune function, hormonal disruption or bowel issues.
Many studies have shown that adopting a regular mindfulness meditation practice can significantly reduce stress levels and make a very positive impact on mental and physical well – being. A lot of people practicing mindfulness show reduction in anxiety levels, reduction in depression and stress.
How crystals can help? Looking into the depths of a crystal offers clarity and stillness of mind, they provide a point of soft focus and help you to stay in the present moment without judging it or without needing for it to change. Crystals have unique qualities that can very well assist in switching off the mind or compulsive thinking. They can ease your anxieties, show you how to forgive, let the past be and so much more. They help you to connect to yourself at a very deep level. Try it for yourself!
